FUSION & AMALGAMES

2023 - A Research Grant by:
CONSEIL DES ARTS ET DES LETTRES DU QUÉBEC & CULTURE MONTÉRÉGIE

Territorial Partnership Programme for la Montérégie-Est.

This "Fusion & Amalgam" grant allows me to carry out an experiment in hybridization of the materials of the art of fire from a contemporary perspective. This project is an extension of my research over the past five years, during which I began experimenting with the integration of organic materials into my sculptural productions. With this research project, I am taking the exploration of the hybrid element to another level of technical complexity and identity. I am initiating research on the combination of molten materials (clay, glass and metal) to assess their ability to mix or affect the structure, shape, luminosity and colour of one or the other. For me, this approach involves issues and technical challenges that leave a lot of room for the exploration of materials, hence the need to collaborate with other glass and metal artists.
